Volunteer With Us

At SAPUK, we believe no one should suffer alone. Our volunteers offer guidance, conversation and hope to people in distress. Whether through chat, admin support, fundraising or events, every role makes a difference.

About Us

At SAPUK, we believe no one should suffer alone. Every day, from 6am to 11pm, our dedicated volunteers offer guidance, conversation, and hope to those in distress. We offer both remote and in-person roles to suit different skills, interests, and availability.

Remote Chat Volunteers

Offer real-time, confidential support to individuals experiencing emotional distress. After three months, there’s an opportunity to progress into a Supervisor role supporting new volunteers.

Fundraising Assistants (Remote)

Help develop and deliver fundraising campaigns, seek sponsorships, and create new ways to raise essential funds online.

Recruitment SLA

When you apply to volunteer with SAPUK, we want you to know what to expect. Our Recruitment Service Level Agreement sets out response times for each stage, from acknowledging your application to scheduling interviews and onboarding.

We are committed to keeping you informed. If you have not heard from us within the timeframe shown, contact volunteer@suicideapuk.co.uk.

A Day in the Life — Events Lead

Heidi · Dewsbury

As the Dewsbury Events Lead, no two days are quite the same. The work includes planning and coordinating with the local events team, setting up community activities, sharing free resources and making time to support people who need a safe space.

Events can include:

  • School-holiday food pantries for families
  • Monthly Walk & Talk sessions
  • I Don’t Know Anyone Either, a welcoming space for people who feel isolated
  • Community coffee mornings
  • The Semi Colon Tattoo Project

Every conversation matters. If you’re in Dewsbury or Blackburn and want to be part of something meaningful, the events team welcomes passionate, reliable volunteers. No experience is needed.

I volunteer because I want to help make a difference in people’s lives. Helping out at events is one of the many ways I can contribute.
